    Working for CaptiveAire

Hello all, sorry if this is the wrong area to post this question but I have recently applied to be a technical sales and field engineer with CaptiveAire.

Ive read some pretty bad reviews of them firing you for no reason at all before the 6month training period is over (when you can start receiving commission) so essentially they get to keep all the money. The reviews pretty much say that they met their quota, were praised during training and then just fired one day out of the blue with no explanation.

Job security is important to me and I dont want to uproot my lie and move just to get fired 4 months into the job. I asked about turnover rate for sales and I was told that its very low and that most have been there for 5+ years....

Anyone who works or has worked for CaptiveAire, can you confirm that the company does this to sales engineers? I just need as much info as I can get before I make this career change. Thanks in advance

Thanks for your response! What’s your day to day schedule like? And what about the day to day schedule of sales engineers?

The “bonus” listed in the offer letter was pretty vague and isn’t listed as commission so I’m worried that they can some how get away with not giving me any commission or “bonus” as it states in the letter.

My day to day would be different then yours. We would be doing two different jobs. My job is to commission new equipment, service new and old equipment. also do preset meeting with all trade to help with what is needed for are equipment. As you will be working with the customer with design of the kitchen.(hoods,Fans and make up air units.
As what was in my letter as Bonus/commission has alway been what it says it should be.
Send me a pm and we can talk more. I also can see if one of are sales engineers could fill you in on there day to day.
I have been in the HVAC service for 20+ years. Captiveaire has been the best company to work for. This will be my last company as it take me into retirement and that a long time away.

    What state are you in?
Is there any way you can work out your contract to state that you start earning commission after X amount of revenue? Ask them what you are expected to generate in 6 months and anything over that, you receive commission from then on. To me, that would be a no-brainer to your employer because you would be motivated to produce from day one.
