    Usage of R404a refrigerant.

    Hi, dear members can you please answer this question? I am in need of an answer In which machine is R404A used?

    Anisha, there are hundreds upon HUNDREDS of machine models which use that. It's the most commonly used refrigerant used in REFRIGERATION applications - especially ice machines and low temp.

    R404 is not environmentally friendly, no.

    The only refrigerants I think are considered to be close to eco friendly is propane and butane, R290 is being used as a replacement for other refrigerants like R134A, R22 and probably 404A in med temp.

    It's used in refrigeration though, 404A is not used in any residential I've ever seen.

    As I understand it 404a is used in applications that use hot gas bypass because it has a higher heat of compression, for instance hot gas harvest ice machines.

    Its used in a lot of applications that don't have hot gas bypass/hot gas defrost.

    All refrigerant is eco friendly as long as the system isn't compromised with leaks.

    Today it's the best refrigerant to replace the old R12/ R502 refrigerants.
