    Cased coils are for sissies

Get that casing out of here !

So the call was for no cool , I found the contactor bad , replaced that , and figured I would check the evap before i left

I opened the closet and thought that coil sitting there was the old one someone left there from a change out

NO its actually running like that !

    Down flow obviously

    In a trailer park

I did go ahead and clean it since it was such easy access

I rarely see a case on mobile home coils unless it is below the heat section.

So, you've never worked on a electric mobile home unit.

Which would be a gas heater.

I wish you would have taken a picture lifting it up. I'm just dying to see a hole under it.

the one I just worked on, the blower compartment was open below the coil also, so you could look underneath as easily as on top.

I believe, what you are talking about, is a manufactured home. As compared to a true mobile home.
Having the coil on bottom, and being open. That's the configuration ive seen on manufactured homes. Also the vents are in the ceiling.

Glad that's a electric water heater, and not gas in that little room!
