    gurgling sound from unit

I just moved into a new place, and when looking at the furnace, there is no filter in place. I know it needs to be changed out every 3 months. I bought new filters, and when I put one in the filter slot, I started hearing this really loud gurgling sound coming from the unit. It seems like it has something to do with a pipe that runs from the unit to a drain in the ground. I don't know anything about these things. Can someone please explain what could be making this noise, and if there's something I can do to fix it? Right now the only fix I've found is to take out the filter, but I don't think that's a good option.

1-make certain you don't have filter(s) elsewhere in the return.
2-sounds like the drain trap is dry (if there is a trap).
It`s better to be silent and thought the fool; than speak and remove all doubt.

Sounds like p trap issues. Are you able to link a pic of the units drain?
