Sub-Panel
Have an old pole barn (20+ years old) that has a sub-panel. The barn is over 250' from the house. The sub is fed by 3 wires and bonded in the panel. No other wires. I was told by my local utility and Electrical contractor that this was legal as long as there are no other wired connections.
I would like to run a water line out to this barn, probably would use PVC or PEX. Does anyone see any issues?
Thanks

Three wires to the panel, hot-hot-neutral?
Is there a grounding conductor too?

G_stan,
What do they mean by "no other wired connections"?
And as strogen asked, is this a system with 2 hots & a neutral, or is it a Hot/ Neutral & Ground making it a 120V service?
Is there a Ground Rod tied in to that Sub panel?
As far as running water out to the barn, there wouldn't be any problem, unless You added an electric DHW, ... Then since it sounds like the AHJ has "Grandfathered" your Barn Service, many things would have to be brought up current Code.
