    50 years ago today...

...Apollo 11 lifted off for it's historic mission of putting man on the Moon.

I'm still amazed at what this country was able to accomplish, given the technology of the time. Each of us have more computer in our hand (cell phone) than what NASA had.

I can't help but wonder what we could accomplish today if we were united and working together toward common goals instead of divided and fighting among ourselves over party politics.

Some picture in the link below for your enjoyment. I was but a child, but I remember being glued to the TV, hour after hour, fascinated by what I saw. These were some of the United State's finest hours.

We never landed on the moon, it was all done with mirrors and slight of hand trickery

I can assure you that they landed there. What most don't know is what they encountered, something they don't want to tell us. Just recently one of the originals made a comment about it.

There is so much going on, I don't even know how to explain, there is so much hidden from us, its unreal.

Just look around, the evidence is overwhelming. Not sure if your post was just a way to get a response, so I'm going to stop.

If your honest about your opinion, just respond, and I will further this discussion. If it was bait, your a sorry sob.

What is significant about the Apollo program... is all the technology that was invented...
And trickled down to consumer products!

Yeah, it may have happened anyhow, but not as soon!

    Here is a thought...
Where were you the day (evening), they ran the live TV feed from the first step of mankind on the moon???

GA (me) was sitting in a chair at my parents house, with my right leg in a cast... had been in a motorcycle accident and had a broken leg... about 3-4" above the ankle.

Remember thinking to myself while watching TV...
Now THAT would be an experience of a lifetime... to actually be there, rather than just see it on TV!

Heck never saw it just heard about it later on the radio AFVN (Armed Forces Vietnam Network). To busy sweating in the heat, dodging bullets and watching for mines to pay much attention at the time. But saw pictures when I came home. Yeah.

That station was funny. Every evening about dusk they would give a half an hour to dedicating songs to individual soldiers from loved ones back home. The best one ever was addressed to SSGT X (can't remember his name) from his wife in Ocala, FL.

They announced it straight "Silver Threads and Golden Needles won't mend this heart of mine" and "D-I-V-I-O-R-C-E" by Tammy Wynette. Heard it on my transistor radio. We all carried them and listened to AFVN when we could with an ear plug.

That was the funniest dear John letter I ever heard we all died laughing. The guys in his unit must have gone nuts. Just wanted to pass along something real funny which actually happened over there to make the time more bearable so to speak. Thank you very much

I won't be surprised if Moon had alien outposts over there. Best place to observe the Earth, no atmosphere etc. However, any space ship would be taken down by their defense system when trying to approach, so one more argument why humans actually never landed there.

Well now, I think we just found the dimmest bulb in the chandelier. We also have a pretty good idea how young he is now. Too young to know that Russia would've been the first ones to cry foul if we didn't land on the Moon. Like I told this youngster in another thread, all you needed at the time was a telescope to verify the landing.

If you were a real tech, you'd solder a relay on that board and call it good to go.

I do a triple evac with nitro to remove non condensables.

I use 56% silver on everything except steel.

Did you really need the " If you were a real tech " ??

Not if they wanted to be pals.....Or suck our brains out!!!
Maybe aliens are in the agribusiness and are growing people to feed their masses. A lot of us act like cattle. Moo
Give me a relay with big enough contacts, and I'll run the world!

You can be anything you want......As long as you don't suck at it.

If a person wants to create a machine that will be more likely to fail...Make it complicated.

That's the single worst argument I've ever heard in my life why America didn't put people on the Moon.
