So, you're using dye mainly for leak detection when bubbles don't work?

What did you use on the remaining 10%?

Yes! and for the remaining 10% I have a Inficon D-TEK leak detector.

Still is my go to detector very pleased with it's performance.
    The H 10 will be a backup.

We used to use those after halide. Went to the Select after that and they were miserable after their first attempt with IR. Went to ZX1 and ZX after that until the quality went down the tubes. Been running the H10 Pro for a while. It picks up leaks but hate everything else about it.

If you have a 410A system, just pump down the system, and add some R22. With R22 you can find a leak with a $20.00 leak detector. Of course if it's in the condenser, that may not work, but if all the 410A is in the condenser, my guess is, it should show up pretty easy.

With both r22 & r410a? What don't you like about it?

I must have been misunderstood, I'm very pleased with the D-TEK Select.

They're all D-TEK...which model? Select (IR), Compass or TEK-Mate?

You remember about when you gave up on the ZX?

It's an older one maybe 3-4 years old, maybe older, I really don't know. I traded a friend that retired that did refrigeration, a Marlin 22 rifle with a scope on it. I think it's got a G1 in the number, if I wanted to get up and go look I guess I could, but it's been a long day.

    My H10 Pro is probably 4.5 y/o

Was having trouble for a year or more with the ZX before the switch. Boss got tired of replacing them and asked if there was a better one to try. ZX1 had a 25 year warranty didn't it? Battery sucked back in the ZX1 days but the ZX was always breaking down on me. Worked good when it worked.

I have a ZX but it always seemed like the sensor lost its edge fairly quickly.

The quality of the sensors was the biggest problem. Initially they weren't bad with the ZX but they went south. Missing leaks or crapping out all together. The other problem I remember was the case. When they switched the shape the case screw holes weren't placed well and if you squeezed the body the case would open up.

Guess I've been lucky with mine...replaced a few sensors and batteries. But they do detect well and that's all I care about. Until something better comes along, I'll buy new ones as needed...
