No, you enlighten me. You are the one making the claim and sounding the alarm. I am the unbeliever, you are the one claiming the need to solve a problem that I do not accept as a problem.

You started the thread and asked for opinions. My opinion is that the problem is not real.

Nobody is saying US should shut down energy production, but what is wrong about becoming more efficient? I was really shocked how inefficient is an average US household in terms of energy. My first fridge in the US was about 3x more energy intensive than same size fridge I had in Europe. I really ask myself what's wrong with US, they dont give a shit about anything, even if it doesn't cost them anything to improve. This is just mad! The technology is out there to at least cut down the emissions. And nobody will be hurt. What's wrong with that?
    Lets take your refrigerator example...

Back when... when refrigerators were horrible energy wasters (quoting your words)...
You could bring home $250 worth of groceries... and they would be COLD with a few hours in the fridge.
Now the capacity of the unit is sooooo anemic... it takes overnight, or 2 days to get it all cold.
    THERE is your efficiency...

And guess what... those efficiency gains... were mandated by a polecat who did NOT care about energy efficiency... rather making a name for himself by leading folks who do not think out the details carefully, down a road that makes them feel good.

Sorry my friend... however until folks learn to QUIT trusting polecats...
More like DISTRUST polecats when their lips are moving... until independently determining what the truth is...
The folks are gonna continue to be suckers for a scam!

Can you tell us what you paid for each of the respective refrigerators?

Do you see any conflict of interest the other way around? Those scientists rely on grant money. Some get very wealthy from it. And some need grant money to put food on their table. Literally.

The more of a "consensus" there is the more that tap opens up and throws money at them.

Plus many are social justice warriors. Blind zeolots. I've met many of them. Worked in their labs as they chatted. Trust me. Some were nuts.

If money coruotsnone end of the argument, wouldn't it stand to reason it would corrupt the other end? There billions of dollars at stake and up for grabs. Literally up for grabs. As long as you come to the right opinions.

even if climate change by co2 is biased and we got the temperature rise wrong by a factor of 2 or 3, whats wrong with developing better technologies?

Always think about that: every time you use fossil fuels this hole is getting bigger and bigger:

is that something intelligent to burn fossil fuels? For sure not... just for the sake of the hole.
