Hmm Sweet Electric Water Heater Install and Quality Furnace Maintenance

I got called out to a massive 5,000 square foot house in a very nice area because the lady was just getting the house back from her husband in divorce proceedings and thought she "might need new heetah!" Apparently, according to her, her Husband was too cheap to refill their propane tank so he started scabbing in electric appliances and left all of the propane stuff to rot. (?!) He scabbed in three water heaters with flying splices and no wire nuts. I only got a picture of this one. On one of them he was trying to cut into the hot water line to connect his sweet new Home Depot water heater and accidentally cut a refrigerant line instead. "He say make big hiss and big mess!"

Here's the one water heater I got pictures of. That is a 240 volt water heater, ran with a 14 gauge extension cord into an abandoned air conditioner disconnect.

Next, she wanted me to look at her furnace because she wanted to make sure when she refilled the propane tank "it be nice and warm". This is just one of the three furnaces the house had. They all looked just as bad. There was miles and miles of ducting in that same condition. Rat shit absolutely everywhere.

Run that water heater. It'll be real warm, until the fire department shows up.

Run fast and far. I suggest a large Down payment, if the check is good, THEN book it and get busy. Lol wow and you must hurry it’s gotta be fixed by Friday. That water heater is nuts.

ITS solid hard piped gas but no shut off for it it might be in the house and the disconnect is an old AC disconnect that oddly he bypassed the fuses i would have at least used the fused disconnect the right way

Some jobs just need everything ripped out and redone lol.
I’d either do it all or bid it so high she’ll look elsewhere....that place looks like a snag

It absolutely was, and the lady was Chinese. I threw a really high number out for doing everything and left.
