I have a chain restaurant who steam cleans the floors and walls every friday , and the boys have no mercy on anything
I find receptacles full of water , evap fans , pilot flames , oven stats , deep fryer controls , controls on refrig units ..etc
I get so tired of replacing stuff for no reason ... Ive had this customer 5 years
I have a new Delfield Chef Base 10 feet long , dam thing musta cost 8 grand , its only 6 months old , and the computer is fried , sensors fried , one evap fan and guess who gets to change everything , No warranty because its water damage ...
Does anyone else go through this ?
I repair it and inform the owner the repair was unnecessary. Let him deal with the other contractor
On the upside, it sounds like you are not working in a filthy environment!
I scraped 17 pounds of grease, goo and charred bits out of a Keating Miraclean flat top this week.
I once had to dig 2 buckets of fermented lettuce out of the bottom of a prep table. It had completely encased the evaporator..... and boy did it smell bad.
They would slam the drawer shut and the lettuce would jump out of the holder and fly out the back end, and made a pile around the evaporator.
I am so glad I don't have to do restaurant work these days.

Oh dude .... I have 20 other restaurants that are Nasty , but yea its nice being able to work on semi clean stuff
I have a customer that owns a bunch of athletic fields. They'll attempt to fix their units 1st with their maintenance guys. Then I'll have to go behind them and try to figure out what they did 1st. Then fix the original problem. The most common call that I have there is blown low voltage fuses due to the maintenance guys replacing thermostats with the power on. Easy money.
I hate when the maint guys been there first ... im like ... oh gawd what has he done
But after a while you just learn to deal with it
Which reminds me ... other day I went behind a maint man who added 22 because suction was low. After I cleaned the cat hair off the evap and was able to recognize there was indeed a coil under there , i removed 3 lbs freeeezon and it ran great
thats what happens when you pay shit wages and hire immigrants and don't properly train them stuff gets broken wendys is famous for this and stuff is always being broken because they don't know not to do this or that
Same as the porters plugging the vacuum in behind the bar, trips beer cooler breaker. I write up "Found and repaired bad electrical connection" $$.......$
