    Generic replacement condenser motors

Found this on a RTU with 2 condenser fan motors. This one slowly spinning away, directional wiring shorting out on the fan blade. Bearings were completely shot, worst I've seen. I wonder if the intermittent ground fault going through them caused the excessive wear?

I hate this style of replacement motor! Should never be used as a first choice.

That motor looks like it's been there awhile. Choose a ball bearing motor over a sleeve bearing and don't forget to pull out the drain plug, and secure the wiring, and it should last a real long time.

That there is what I call a high-powered-wire-stripper, and a pretty piss poor install.

    It was NOT PROPERLY installed.
I would not have left the threaded part of the mounting bolts that far above the nuts.
I would have preferred to have some 'washers' between the nuts and the mounting plate.
I personally would have applied some turbine oil on those threads also.
    It delays rusting.
The wires should have had a sleeve or should have been TAPED together and SECURED properly.

Indeed 2sac, ... But maybe they liked that soothing "Ching!Ching!Ching!" noise of the wires hitting the blades.
