    Additive or replace?

I found a system yesterday that we installed 4 years ago that the customer said wasn't cooling. Had 410, 57/251 with 9.3 SC, 2 1/2 ton. Coil was starting to frost. I have been replacing these TXV's but I'm wondering if these are good cases for the additive? What are the symptoms that make it a good case for the additive?

The rust inhibiter issue is long gone. How many valves have been changed?

Maybe not. I think that was near the tail end. The serial number might be helpful in having someone tell you whether that unit was manufactured during that time frame.

If you have the rust inhibitor you might be able to just use the additive. If it does have the rust inhibitor don't change the valve without adding the additive as it keeps the inhibitor in suspension
