Seeing that David French, turns your stomach so badly, with your shrugging off the article, & insinuating that those that speak of it, are unthinking chumps .......

Or, are they "Untruthful Chump News" also?

Trump's trade war with China could start weighing on the biggest engine of the US economy

"The US-China trade war could soon push consumers to reduce spending, according to a new Bank of America Merrill Lynch consumer-confidence analysis.
The closely watched University of Michigan consumer sentiment index rose to a 15-year high last week — but that data was collected before the latest trade war escalation.

President Donald Trump's trade war with China has already shaken consumer sentiment and rattled global financial markets. A new analysis from Bank of America Merrill Lynch suggests it could hit consumer spending next. "

" Take the closely watched University of Michigan's Index of Consumer Sentiment, which soared to a 15-year high last week. While on its face the reading seems to suggest consumers have confidence in a trade resolution between Washington and Beijing, it is important to note that the it was conducted before the latest escalation.

"The gains were recorded mostly before the trade negotiations with China collapsed and China responded with their own tariffs," Richard Curtin, the Surveys of Consumers chief economist, said in a release. "Nonetheless, the data indicate the corrosive impact of an escalating trade war." The next University of Michigan reading is expected on May 31. "

Second White House 'Farm Bailout' Could Cost As Much As $20 Billion

    by Tyler Durden
    Tue, 05/21/2019 - 14:28

"Introduced earlier this month in a disjointed stream of tweets from President Trump, the White House is finally ready to release more details about its second bailout for American farmers.

This year's package could cost as much as $20 billion, nearly double the $12 billion from last year.

And at first glance, it appears that farmers will be better compensated by the new plan - a sign that the administration doesn't see an immediate resolution for the trade crisis - though it still is cold comfort for farmers in the American heartland who have been hammered not only by China's tariffs, but by record flooding in the Midwest and five years of falling agricultural commodity prices."

"Rates currently under discussion include $2 per bushel for soybeans, 63 cents per bushel for wheat and 4 cents per bushel for corn growers to compensate them for their losses (whether the White House truly intends to distribute as aid to struggling countries remains to be seen). Though the final details of the plan are subject to change.

Bloomberg's sources said farmers will also receive payments for other commodities, just like they did last year.

In a departure from last year, the administration is reportedly considering basing payments on the acreage planted for the coming season, rather than farmer's current production levels. This has spurred questions from some economists.

While the payments last year were based on farmers’ current production, the basis will be modified, the people familiar with the plan said. The administration is considering basing payments on the acreage farmers plant this year and their historic yield of crops per acre, the people said.

WTH?!?!?! What if the Farmer's land is under water?!?!?

Former Agriculture Department officials and economists have warned that a decision to base payments on current acres planted risks skewing farm production decisions and adding to the rising stockpiles of crops, particularly soybeans. That risks depressing commodity prices even after the current trade dispute is resolved.

The combination of a disparity in payments favoring soybeans over corn and rainy weather in the Midwest could encourage farmers to change plans and decide to plant soybeans rather than corn. Soybeans have a shorter growing season, so they can be planted later."

When considering Trump's, & other Elite's Unique Ability to write off REAL ESTATE Losses & Depreciation, as well as "Fudge th' Books", ...... I Sincerely believe that "If" a Bail out, is again being considered, .... Then the Federal Government should pay the Farmers the Full market Value for their products.

Then, the Federal Government can "write off" this expense, & "Show a Profit", just like Trump.

This can be followed by many Food Aid Programs, even Bio-fuels Programs, either receiving these products for "Pennies on the Dollar", (As in the Art of th' Deal), or these Programs receiving the products via donation, ... which in turn leads to another "Write Off".

Dang! There'd be so many "Write Offs" that possibly cursive writing might become "Normal" again.

Goldman Sachs: Tariffs Costs Fall “ENTIRELY” On U.S. Households & Businesses

    Mac Slavo
    May 13th, 2019
    SHTFplan.com

"Goldman Sachs has come out and said president Donald Trump’s tariffs have had a bigger impact on consumer prices than originally thought. Additionally, the bank has said what the rest of us already know: the tariffs are being paid entirely by United States businesses and consumers; not the Chinese government.

Financial Experts Warn: Americans WILL Pay The Cost Of A Trade War

Some sites have been warning that prices will spike on many items (food included) thanks to the taxes levied on imported Chinese goods and the mainstream media is finally admitting that taxation isn’t good for an economy. Goldman Sachs also said that the prices American consumers and businesses pay are higher because China is covering the cost of the additional tariffs.

“One might have expected that Chinese exporters of tariff-affected goods would have to lower their prices somewhat to compete in the US market, sharing in the cost of the tariffs,” Goldman said according to CNBC. But that’s not how business works. When the cost to make a good goes up, the cost to buy that good goes up to cover. Businesses don’t go into business to lose money and just because we’re talking about Chinese goods, that doesn’t change the finite laws of basic economics.

From the very beginning, Trump has repeatedly and inaccurately claimed that China will pay for tariffs imposed by the U.S. “However, analysis at the extremely detailed item level in the two new studies shows no decline in the prices (exclusive of tariffs) of imported goods from China that faced tariffs.”

And now the big mouthed capitalist is giving farmers a 16-billion dollar aid package to make up for his tariffs. How is that not socialism?

Think I remember aid to farmers began back in the 30's or 40's. Could be wrong. Point being farmers have received all sorts of aid and subsidies for decades. Even to the point of being paid to grow the crops, then plowing them under.

Will you please give us your definition of socialism, with regard to current events and your comment attached. Be nice to see you enter into a discussion in an attempt to back up what you post.

If you were a real tech, you'd solder a relay on that board and call it good to go.

I do a triple evac with nitro to remove non condensables.

I use 56% silver on everything except steel.

Did you really need the " If you were a real tech " ??

Another Source that is addressing how this Trade War will affect American Consumers.
Not sure whether Brian 8383 will also discount this data, as coming from "chumps people", & actually I'm not sure what source of data Brian 8383 enthusiastically endorses as Truth, but, ........

Despite the many Assurances from the Republican Administration about how great the economy is, even with the profits being made at the Stock market, the lowering Unemployment rate, etc., ...... There are, In My Belief, many Economic Indicators that are being Ignored &/or "Whitewashed" so as to not divert the "Sheeple's Attention" away from this "Instant Gratification" or "Economical Sugar High". The American & World Elite are becoming ever more Wealthy, & due to somewhat of a Reagan like era "Trickle down" Economy, ... People are Working, ... BUT!, .... These Tariffs, are a tax upon the People, passed along by the Businesses of America, when the Tariffs begin to cut to far in to their profits. The profit losses are now affecting many Retail Stores, as well as Manufacturers in America,& they will pass the Tariffs on to the "Common Joe" on the street.

There are going to be "Lay Offs", & once the next round of Tariffs increases, .... there will be Stores & Manufacturer's closing down.

In fact,.... Red China quite possibly could begin to restrict the export of various products to America, such as "Rare Earth Metals", which in many ways, would Break America's Back, due to it's Insane Dependence upon products that are bought from at least one nation that is not an Ally of America. Plainly put,... That is FUBARED, & those responsible for America getting in to that position, both Republican & Democrat should be hung by the neck with piano wire from a bungy tower.

I Absolutely Believe in "Fair Trade", as well as "America First!", .... But Dang It!!! I don't see where tons of Common Sense, Wisdom, Knowledge, & Preventive Measures were Employed prior to this Trade War, where American Farmers, Factories, Stores, The Military, etc., were all prepared for any Economic Hardship that could cause the Failure of any of these American Businesses.

America,... "We the People", were not "Put First", ..... The Elite, those that are part of the One World Order were.

The American Middle Class is disappearing, .... No matter how many promises "The Suits in Washington" give of "Maga!" or "Change You Can Believe In!"

And, as in the past, where many an American, posing as a Patriotic Leader, proclaimed "We Feel Your Pain!", ..... They got the "Write-offs & Depreciation", made Killer Money, & continued to live the life of the "Rich & Famous".

National Retail Federation Warns Trump's Tariffs Could Be Devastating For Consumers

    by Tyler Durden
    Thu, 05/23/2019 - 15:50

The National Retail Federation (NRF) has warned that President Trump's escalating trade war with China could be devastating for consumers and lead to at least one million job losses.

The Trump administration raised tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods from 10 to 25% around ten days ago. This is "bad news for nearly every sector of the American economy — retail, farming, manufacturing, and technology," the NRF report said. When tariffs are implemented, we have explained before, the importer on record (an American company) pays the tax to US Customs, then has two options: eat the extra costs or pass it along to consumers."

"National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow had to undermine Trump on May 12 during a Chris Wallace interview and said, it was, in fact, American consumers who were paying the tariffs.

Chris talks to @larry_kudlow about who actually pays the tariffs with China if they were to be imposed #FNS pic.twitter.com/cwl89OyLDK
    — FoxNewsSunday (@FoxNewsSunday) May 12, 2019

NRF estimates that the latest round of tariffs will cost $750 per year for the average family, and lead to one million job losses, The Hill reported Friday.

If Trump slapped the Chinese with 25% tariffs on all remaining imports from China, it would cost consumers $2,300 a year and lead to two million job losses."

Mississippi Floodway May Be Opened, Unleashing 17 Million Liters Of Water Per Second

    by Tyler Durden
    Thu, 05/23/2019 - 22:25

"One of the major barriers that keeps the Mississippi River on its course could be opened for only the third time in its history. The opening would be the result of rising river levels and could also flood parts of Louisiana, which would affect businesses in the region, according to Bloomberg.

The Army Corps of Engineers may be forced to open the Morganza Floodway, a lengthy dam-like barrier that redirects 600,000 cubic feet, or 17 million liters of water, per second to take pressure off the Mississippi. The river has been at high levels since last October as a result of massive rainfalls that have also had a negative effect on crops in the region."

"The area along the river between New Orleans and Baton Rogue is littered with refineries, chemical plants and grain elevators. High water on the river has already caused delays for shipments of raw materials in and out of these businesses and, due to the high levels, traffic through Vicksburg was shut down earlier this year already.

Exacerbating things further is the fact that meteorologists are calling for a new deluge into the river as a result of thunderstorms across the Great Plains and the Midwest this week. A large amount of this water will flow into the Mississippi, coupled with water from the Arkansas river.

Jeff Graschel, service coordination hydrologist with the Lower Mississippi River Forecast Center said: "We are really close to the trigger levels." Speaking to Bloomberg, he added that while the Mississippi could dip lower in the next few days, forecasters are expecting a new deluge caused by a week’s worth of thunderstorms across the Great Plains and Midwest to send the river rising again by the end of next week."

So DDB, not arguing with you but please tell me the last time "America, ... We the people" were put first? Looking back I can't remember anytime were that happened in my 60 years on this planet. It has always been the rich get theirs and we get to feast off the scraps left in their dog's dish.

I wish I had the money to file suit against every one of the stuffed suits in DC. They were elected to be servants of the peoples needs. Somewhere along the lines they have become Overlords, working outside the law, watching out for themselves first and adding more power to the power they were never meant to have. And the whole time, we, the American people, are left holding the bag of SH!T they hand us, and to make it worse they tell us that it will be good for us.

We have not been "The Nation of We the People", since the Early 1800s BNM.

And, ... I Absolutely Agree with what You stated, with the exception of Filing Suit against them.

They all need to be Arrested for Treason, with all of their Cash/ Properties & Assets seized, followed by being tarred & Feathered, then flogged till the feathers fall off, .... with those that caused an Unjustified death, being publicly put to death, & the rest permanently deported to Syria, Libya, Yemen, etc.

I've been awake too long DDB. It is, and I shouldn't say this out loud for fear of being misunderstood, almost making me feel militant. When I say militant I am not talking taking up arms but letting those in my sphere of influence, all 3" of it, know how we have been mistreated for our lifetime and we need to do something to make it stop.

I doubt that the American people will ever garner the ambition and desire to wrestle the power away from them but I can always hope. I seldom watch congressional hearings because I can't stand the pompous attitude of the small minded congressional members. I have enjoyed some sound bytes from Barr and the temporary guy before him (I forget the bald guy's name). I find it a shame that the American people keep voting for these fools. I would love to see at the next election everyone write in "NONE OF THE ABOVE", but it will never happen.
