    Greetings Wiiyas,

I'm thinking that if you re-read this thread, that You'll find that the only poster that really had a "shitty attitude" was Izenglish, & he got called out by Hvactalk"s Administrator.

Some of the greatest Mind's in the Trade replied to your questions, & believe it or not, they absolutely do care about proper "Trade Practices", & "The Trade",as well as your situation.

I was actually Impressed, by the answers that You got about the "Slinger", the reasons why it is there, as well as what harm in removing it can be caused to the Equipment, as well as the financial problems that would fall upon those that own the equipment, with the exception of Izenglish's comments.

    I didn't see this happening:

"Welcome, but you completely suck, F'you!"

I saw Men of the Trade, that have many years Experience, as well as a combined treasure trove of Knowledge, tell you why cutting of the "Slinger" is wrong.

Actually, as I followed this thread, I was wondering why You never contacted the Manufacturer's Tech Service, & asked them about how to solve this "noise" situation, instead of immediately removing the "Slingers", & then telling your bosses that the problem is solved.

Regarding the Trade, .... Herein this Forum, ... I've Learned, over & over again,... That which I thought I had a solid foundation of Knowledge about, actually had many cracks in it, & needed repairs. I've Learned, & actually enjoyed the process, ... that many times, it's better to ask questions about a "problem", & then set your "Pride" to the side, & shut up, & LISTEN. There's No Problem, to continue with Asking more questions, about the Problem Topic, as you learn how to solve it, & that is how I Learn. And I Assure You, .... Those that replied to your problem with the "Slingers", with the exception of Izenglish, will answer every question that You have, as long as You are Sincerely seeking to Learn how to solve the problem, & for that matter, any problem regarding The Trade.

    "You're all elitist ass-holes"

In the Majority, .... Not here in the threads regarding The Trade, In my belief, but if you want to venture on over to ARP, ... Then You will find a few.

Techman, in Post #39, absolutely gave you some very sound advice, ... Stay Here, .. Toughen up somewhat, & I guarantee that You, & Us, together, ... Will in the Trade, ... "Get Better".

And when You get the chance, .... Ask Terry about the "Hunley".

This site is about learning to do it right. Occasionally, you need to do what is necessary to get it going...we have all done it. But then you need to go back and fix it right. I understand that you are busy and may not have time to do it soon. If you go back and fix it right, you may never have to go back for a very long time.

even you admitted that apologies are classy. Consider it.

    Hummm.... OK

Now with all that said I too will mention that @Izenglish is not a bad guy just had a bad keyboard day is all.

However @Wiiyas Iniini Let it be known we do have rules about being nice. I call it "be nice or be gone". So please follow our site rules or I can be your Huckleberry too. We have a great Mod staff here. We also have additional rules for other areas you may be interested in and the comradely here is outstanding.

We have a saying here that all the site staff adhere to. "Let'm talk"... we don't like jumping members but rules will be followed. Another thought we have is "Less is More"... usually the members work things out on their own so the Mods can moderate with less administration. All that = smooth running community.

What I really want is to make sure each and everyone of our members, new, old and grouchy Pro has a family to chat with and sometimes shout at. That's life but we also teach here.

So from me Welcome Aboard. Fill out your Pro Application so you to see behind the curtain and get into the real meat of HTalk. It's a lot easier to get in than you think.

    (de-mounting my soapbox now)

Not sure where you are located, but the time stamp indicates you just had a very long day. Get some rest, then come on back and check out the site, there's something to learn for everyone.

I am not a hack. You all don't work in my facility. You all don't know my constraints/expectations. I had to tell my bosses, bosses, boss 3 days ago that we (HVAC) are in fact, less busy on the weekends (because shutting down a RTU on a fight night is out of the question). So our bigger projects are during the week (my facility is 24/7).

My work load is massive...filters (8kish worth) again in 3 weeks. Heat wheels pies needing cleaning. That on top of every GD server in buffet complaining that its too hot every 25mins (its not).

I asked an innocuous question...that was bugging me (because I didn't know). And I got completely sh*t on by everyone.

Honestly, I came here for some camaraderie. I thought that we'd have some common ground. But, nope. You're all elitist ass-holes who claim that cutting off a slinger ring makes me a hack and somehow invalidates everything else in my career.

    Oh. Please, elaborate.

I have never been in the camp where you cut something from a moving part, unless you get that idea from tech support, or put in an order for a new part, and find the root cause to fully correct the problem.

I'm glad I missed all the drama.

To the new guy: forums require a thick skin. If you come from a generation that needs "safe spaces," you will find this extension of the real world to be a little irritating, but developing that thicker skin is a very useful thing for your long term happiness.

I'm a part of everyone and I thought I well answered your questions - and without condemnation.

    But . . . maybe not - I'll go back and re-read myself. <g>

No worries PHM, he started it. He works in a place that requires confidentiality, has lots of rooms for rent, and serves lots of food and drinks, at least judging by the amount of ice machines.

I'm guessing that some of those places are illegal operations, and the IRS would come in and bust them for not paying taxes on the illegal activities.

So yes, the OP has a lot of things to worry about. Ain't got no nevermind no how from a bunch of HVAC techs who are answering the question/situation that he asked about.

Members making new members never to return -- not good!! What happen to teaching others instead of mocking them or trying to believe they somehow no nothing and everyone else here is superior? Some of you need that drink and get grouchy?

All of you need to lighten up a bit, before you get troubleshooted under the table.

That guru turd is a turd. We should lighten up a bit??? Why? He got back what he tried to deliver to many others. LOL.

You mean you got back what you liked to give out, taste of your own medicine. The OP chose to leave perhaps, others may choose to dish back out what they receive.

Let's see here, I just read a post yet again from yet another person saying they do not need to validate themselves to you or anyone else...

If enough people say it, a light bulb should go off in noggin.. but it still hasn't yet. Do you need to tear someone else down so
you feel better about yourself or superior?

    This one has been entertaining!!

For the OP....you came out strong about your skill level, but didn’t know what the slinger was for....you got some good answers with details of the pro’s and cons. Then you got some less than helpful input....

Stick around and have some fun, you seem like a good guy. I think you can handle some serious constructive criticism...:and you’ll get it here!! LOL!!

Apply for Pro status.....that’s where the community tightens up....out here in public, nobody knows who you are or what you do. Back there, we get into some great discussions....and yes, even kick each other in the nuts here and there, but like any dysfunctional, we generally are able to get past menial disagreements, and really help each other out!

    I hope you stick around!!

So...you have been here for 12 minutes and have us all figured out? Impressive. I would love to get troubleshooted under the table. That’s why I am here. To troubleshoot under the table and to get troubleshooted under the table.

    btw...where is this table?

I'm gonna suggest that You read this thread from the beginning, before You begin Flatulently adding your "opinion" that is baseless.

And while You are at it, ... Get an Industrial sized Enema.
