    Found the Leak

Automated French fry dispenser/freezer. This thing has been leaking refrigerant for over a year. I guess they cost around $7,000.

The evaporator is a cold wall type with tubing between the inner and outer walls. Found the leak and repaired it. Now to re-spray foam and cut a piece of stainless to patch up the surgery.

    That’s awesome. Good job man.

For a McDonald’s right? Nothing against Mcd’s but I highly doubt they will appreciate your ingenious work for what it’s truly worth.

Good ole soap suds gives the satisfaction feeling, and great for a photo op whereas the electronic just screams,... by the size of the bubbles ( unless you really pumped up the pressure, or the tubing leak was resting on a hard surface, seems like a good size leak.) Can't see how the machine could have run that long between gas and go.

BTW that Blue Moon sign would be nice to make as a converted small and big hands traditional clock.......just saying

This one was for an Owner/Operator who is extremely happy to not be purchasing a new unit. Corporation owned stores are a different story.

Very true. There’s a big difference between the corporate stores and the owner/operator stores. Kudos again!

Seriously, hows that work ? You go by the loudest sound ? Did you know the tube layout or can you be 6" away from the leak and zero it in ?
Ohhh, and well done, I'm impressed.

Is the cap tube wrapped in with foil ? I've seen where that corrodes the copper. What was your repair material choice ?

Nice work on pin pointing that , have to add that idea to the bag of tricks. How long did the refrigerant last between re topping the unit ?
Sent from the van with the a/c on.

We ended up cutting about 18” of stainless to chase the leak. The stethoscope didn’t get it exactly, but it got it close. Evidentially, it only ran for two days after they charged it. This is from a store over 60 miles away. We don’t normally work at this store, But we work for the owner on stores clean set to us and he had it transported to our shop as a last ditch effort for a repair.
