Hoshizakis use water to assist during harvest. I have seen where they get enough water to make ice but not enough to harvest ice. The water filters were stopped up just enough to keep it from harvesting. Changed water filters and everything worked.

I'd start with giving it a thorough cleaning

After cleaning with Hoshi cleaner with long handle brush following directions. Verify water supply and extend harvest time on board. Verify water flow by checking time it takes to overfill sump at startup.

that can’t actually be someone’s option of getting ice to release. Are we talking like a food grade silicone spray? Or are we just spraying whatever we have rattling around in the old war wagon.

Have run into many problems with improper water flow issues. Or just a dirty machine. Need a lot more information to correctly remedy the problem. And I would never use silicone to get ice to drop.

    Maybe try PAM.
    Sorry couldn’t resist.

Just Say No, to all of the "bandaid release agents", such as pam, silicone etc. What is the model number please?

Did they spray with a side-to-side motion keeping the can 6-10” away from the grid? If so, nope still not a good idea

Silicone spray will work, if the evaporator is not too bad.First make sure the evaporator is clean, good water flow, proper harvest, proper freon charge. It takes more freon to harvest, than to make ice.Freon charge must be correct. If the machine is clean and operating properly, but the plates are worn, spray will help, but you will have to spray it every few days.,It is a temporary fix!!!Fix the real problem!!!If plates are real worn .spray won't help.
