Not sure if you picked up a charger or not yet, but this is what I run. It does any lithium ion battery and does Ni-Mh simultaneously. It runs solely off USB. 2A is preferred but it will modulate down if the power supply isn't up to par. I like it since you can charge at home or in a vehicle.

For a size comparison, a rechergable AA is on the left, 21650 in the middle and 26650 on the right.

H-10PM Quick and dirty M12 battery conversion.


I ran it for about 15 minutes this morning with no low battery indicator.

Tonight I will test the run time on a fully charged M12 16wh (1.3ah) battery and time permitting on an M12 XC 32wh (2.6ah) battery.

I spent a few hours researching how to convert the H-10PM to Li-Ion battery power with the batteries being stored in the original location below deck.
To do it that way I would have used (6) 2800mah 18650 batteries in a series-parallel configuration to give ample run time.
The problem is safely charging them.
There are boards that can be soldered to the battery assembly to make charging more safe and there are chargers out there that can charge these setups.
They are typically used for radio controlled cars, drones etc.
If I cannot get enough run time out of the M12 setup I will order what’s needed to do a good 18650 setup and post back.

I put my conversion on hold. The detector has a issue now. After start up I get a constant alarm on high sensitivity. It settles down after a few minutes in medium and is usable. Some oil might have gotten on the board accidentally. There was some kind of residue on top under the folding cover. Been debating a new purchase of a "tool box tough" detector that already has a L-ion

I have an inverter in my van, I usually charge it after each job. If it had a long leak detection run, or if its the winter time. that is one way to maximize the on time with the OE battery.

Hit the low battery today. Three leak checks plus a little time messing initially. Not sure I started at full charge. Will give it another cycle but might need more battery.

I would think 6x 18650 paired in series/parallel (double what is in the picture) would work...
Also, there is a 26650 battery... has more power density than the 18650 battery.

I’ve been running 6 18650’s in series parallel.
The pump sounded weak and didn’t work very well.

My batteries were only 1500mah. I may try some 2800mah or I may try 8 18650’s with a voltage regulator.

I went back to an original style battery.

I have a headlight I get from Amazon that uses 2x 18650 batteries...
One can tell the difference between cheap and good batteries quickly...
The cheap ones hold up for an hour give/take...
The good ones hold up for 2.5-3 hours...
However the good ones take longer to charge... grin!

I like the voltage regulator idea...

Didn't notice any strain on the pump tone. How was the run time or did it not make it to a recharge? They make some higher mah’s in the same style. I'm liking the lighter weight with the 3 cells.
