You have to order TXV Separate.
it does come with a piston installed.
Do they ship with TXV or piston? And if piston? What style is it? Our trane rep didn't seem to know much about them. Other than saying there's no 22 txv kit available. 410a only.

Ok, looks like the 4ton that I need comes with a 83. I guess i'll make another call tomorrow to see if they have different sizes available. I'm having my doubts though.
I don't think Ameristar has every produced any R-22 equipment.
They do not list any r-22 parts or equipment reference on the dealer web site.
I do believe a standard piston will fit. The chart just shows the size that comes in the AH from factory.
They are usually matched up pretty accurately for their 410 condensers
You can always perform a few test runs and take sc and sh readings. You will it correct quicker than you think.
Yes, there were 22 Ameristar units.
Artietech, but piston is the same exact build
Piston is same build, the only change is orifice size, now for those of you smarter than me:
What is the SH change when going from an 83 orifice to an 88 orifice?
The rest of the coil is does not care what goes through it, you could even install a TXV upgrade, mechanical fittings are great for that.

SH is what you set it at according WB and OTA. But. with the larger piston your HP will be lower, resulting in a lower compression ratio and lower power consumption.
Just be careful if you use the outdoor Ameristar heat pump, and use an indoor txv. You have to set the charge by weight, not subcooling.
