    Odd place for an evaporator

    Mounted right above the only door into the freezer. First time I’ve seen that.

    Maybe the installer was tired of moving product when cleaning coils? Never saw that before either but I kind of like it.

    That is different. Does look a bit odd. Even though freezer coils rarely need any cleaning, I do like the idea of easier access all around!
    I do a triple evac with nitro to remove non condensables.

    The customer said they don’t ever have any excessive ice or frost buildup. System has (3) 45 min defrosts pre day.

    That's not the equipment that I service so I'm not accustom to the design issues involved with a setup like that, but they just gained the ability to stack items higher in the back, effectively increasing their storage space. If they aren't experiencing issues with that setup it seems like a win for them.

    I wonder if it was mounted where you took the picture what those defrost times would be ?

    It's unconventional and violates all manufacturer recommendations, but as long as you have enough height for such an install and it has a door switch installed to kill the fans and LLS, then I'm OK with it.

    I prefer a little more pitch to the drain line in a freezer though.
