No mastic requirements on the duct board to meet code in Florida? Install looks good. Thought it was code requirement to have fiber tape and mastic at A/H to plenum connection and all taped joints have mastic as well......

Nope no mastic necessary to pass code, I use mastic tape made by Shurtape most of the time. I’ve never used mastic at plenum, it’s a mess and ruins the look of the job. I’ve never failed an inspection because of not using mastic at AH

We have to use mastic on anything thats metal to metal. Taps, seams, joints, everything. On one small duct job its easy to use 2-3 rolls of mastic and we all know how cheap it is and how its a pain if you ever need to take something back apart.

Man I hate the stuff, and hate the hacks who live by " do your best, and mastic the rest! " and it's a nightmare to have to remove any of it

Yeah in my area they are more worried about the tape we use instead of failing houses with 4 ton units on 2 ton duct systems. Ive started using duct butter to cut down on the rolls of mastic.
