Water heater "Hackaroo"!
A local gas company referred a customer to me who just had a water heater installed (not by the gas company), and it wasn't running right. It had a whole lot of yellow flame.
I was wondering why the customer didn't call the original installer. So, I asked him. He said the guy was referred to him by a friend, and that when he was done he said, "I'm not sure I did this right".
Well, the orifice hadn't been changed to the LPG orifice, the main burner hadn't been changed to the LPG main burner and there was no combustion air for the closet.
I can imagine there was a LOT of yellow flames. The gasket on the access panel hadn't been replaced carefully, and the flames must have been rolling out of the "sealed" combination chamber for a while.
Why do people keeping hiring these folks?
It's an upside down world we live in.
