It means pull out the motor and run it on the bench without having the gears/shaft attached.

The whole idea behind it is to see if the motor is seized or dead, or if the gears or bearings within are seized.

If the motor runs just fine on the bench, you know the problem is elsewhere.

Or even just pull it out and test it at the machine, just get the "load" off the motor and try it.

Absolutely ! Never attempt to check high voltage without understanding it or respecting it.

    Hold up a second.

Are you a service tech or a customer?

You shouldn't be messing with this stuff unless you know what you are doing, you can easily either A, injure yourself or B, injure the machine further.

I have. Don't know if his last name is Patel, but he is a legit Indian commercial tech.

Here in the UK, I have their emails and phone numbers direct. They don't always answer if they're abroad or training as they normally cover EMEA but normally great at responding to emails.

I'm just a guy who tries to fix his own AC's and ice machines, before I have to spend the big bucks to purchase new. I can't believe you guys have this much time worrying about what I do, or who I am.

We're not supposed to give out DIY advice, that's the only reason we care.

Did you get a chance to test the motor?
