    defective controls

so the gas company was replacing the lines on my street. as they turned everyone's gas on they checked the furnaces.
Mine was red-tagged with the remarks : "Base will not hold open, control valve bleeding by"
so is this gonna be an easy fix by a technician or am i gonna be looking at a new furnace?

I’m not sure what they mean by “base.” Gas valve perhaps? That would not be overly expensive.
Take into account that national average furnace life is 20 years. If your furnace is near that age or older, a new furnace should be considered.

I think that is Baso, not base. A tech can easily replace it. May not even be the Baso itself, but another easy to replace part.

    Should be an easy fix.
Use the biggest hammer you like, pounding a square peg into a round hole does not equal a proper fit.
