Improve compressor life or disadvantages to Hard Start kit for A/C

Are there any disadvantages to installing a Hard start capacitor kit for my central A/C unit? I mainly want to extend compressor life, although it would also give an advantage of running my A/C unit during power outages with my generator. I’ve read about some things exploding, etc.

There’s something else called the MicroAir easy start system, is that a similar thing? Although looks bulky for an easy installation.

How much would an HVAC technician charge to install this?
