You just brought back a flood of memories.
I took a lot of notes, which included questions, back when I was a newbie.
Basically, in my very early years, I proved myself better than most, so I was thrown to the wolves to fend for myself. Still get thrown to the wolves, LOL.

I do a triple evac with nitro to remove non condensables.

If you have a choice, go with refrigeration while you are younger. Learn all you can.
Then when you get older, you go to A/C work. Because you'll get tired of the overtime required for refer work.
But that refer work with the overtime can put some good change in your pocket to set you up for later. Just try to save a bit every week with some sort of retirement plan.

That's basically what my foreman did to me. I didnt mind because it was better than being in the warehouse not being able to work on anything.
