    I had one once, the wheel hit the housing and blew the wheel apart. Bits of wheel actually came out of the duct diffusers.
    Maintenance guy said he didn’t hear a thing, but he changed the belt to try and get the unit running again........

    Posted a couple of similar shots on this site before.

    Surprising how often it happens.
    If you were a real tech, you'd solder a relay on that board and call it good to go.

    I do a triple evac with nitro to remove non condensables.

    Like a hot knife thru butter.

    I had a 150ton AHU that they just kept installing smaller belts as the blower shaft cut thru the opposite side. They couldn't figure out why the belts kept getting loose every other day. I found a 6" long gash in the side of the AHU.

    Ive been in industrial plants where shafts have ate thru bearings and hubs...... get there and find a mess like that...... and nobody was aware of it....

    I had one that was enclosed with external grease nipples.

    It had been greased, and the grease type and pumps-each-time, were all faithfully detailed in a Log Book. For Years.

    The failure was similar to the one pictured here. I screamed and the maintenance head showed me the log.

    I called BS but when I got it all apart I found the big piles of grease where the tubes had been left off the bearings. <g>
