Suggestions for Flexible Post Dial Gauge Fixture

How are they at holding position when in use?

Who’s in particular? Starrett, Fowler, Mitutoyo, etc.. Off Brand?

Here's Adam Booth's review of his favorite indicator holder, the Noga: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0Wg6wTlhSnI

As a side note, Abom79 is an excellent machinist on YouTube and regularly discusses tools and techniques as they relate to his trade. His videos are usually more than half an hour long and are full of great info.

That’s actually one of the ones I ordered.

    I should have it today.

So that Noga is really slick. Strong magnet, one thumb dial to loosen and re-tighten the entire fixture.

I also got a knock off Flex-O-Post style to try out. If I like the concept, I’ll likely get a nicer one, but I may just wind up using the Noga for everything.

I never needed one of them, over the years I have accumulated enough magnetic bases, arms and rods to tackle any situation. The one in the pic is very similar to HFT $32 kit.

Yes. Thats the essentially the knock off kit that I got. Same box and all, I just mounted it in with the Noga fixture in a case I had sitting around.

I use dial indicators for all sorts of things.

But primarily measuring shaft truth, run out, end play, etc...

I also use them to measure soft foot on pumps and motor feet to know what size shims to add. I use them to measure pipe stresses on a pumps as-well.
