I'd like to know which app is the most helpful to residential techs? There are so many out there, I don't know where to start.

The only app I've ever needed or used to diagnose any refrigeration equipment has been the one between my ears. If one does not learn how to do it him/herself then no amount of apps are going to make them a good tech. It's the difference between a mechanic and a parts changer. IMHO

Better to learn to diagnose the problems yourself without an app. So you can become more valuable.
Apps are a good reference for confirmation sometimes, but as stated above use your brain to diagnose, then use an app if necessary to double check what your thinking.
Apps alone suck in general for initial diagnosis as there are way too many variables beyond what an app can offer.
I use them when I need p/t chart as Im only able to memorize a couple of common sets. I also sometimes use the charts... not sure what they are called? ... the ones that usually have up down arrows that indicate things like subcool, superheat, amp draw, discharge pressure, etc.
This however is always after initial diagnosis, to confirm. I actually dont even use an app for this stuff, I just google them on the fly.
I would guess that actually trying to diagnose from scratch with an app could lead to all sorts of weird diagnosis and subsequent changing of un-needed parts. Maybe not but thats my take.

I have those two plus Johnstone storefront app that tells me price and availability.
Aside from that I dont really know what else you would need.
I thought a ductulator would be good but they all cost money. So for that I just walk back to the truck and get the one in the front seat.

Field piece system analyzer HG3. Its expensive , you need the manifold and induct psychrometer to complete refrigerant calculations. It will shown airflow problems too...if you buy the filter grid velocity/static converter. Its the only system I know of that does teet calculation and will tell you how to set up blower cfms to increase efficiency. I have all of the goodies , and I almost never use it. I mostly use it to set up piston metering system for maximum efficiency, but really you can spend a few minutes taking reading and some old fashioned math to accomplish the same thing.
