One of the main purposes of having a company social media presence in the first place is to drive sales. You can certainly do that, just don't overdo it.

Interesting point. I feel "upgrade type" contractors (Remodeling, kitchen cabinets, flooring, etc.) do very well with social media advertising, but a contracting businesses that rely on "immediate need" services (plumbers, HVAC, appliance repair, etc.) might not get the benefit of getting to their market when they need the service using social media. Is there evidence that shows social media advertising works well for the latter type of contractors? I would be very interested in using it, if that is the case.

Its more of how people are looking up services these days. Everyone and their mom has a facebook (literally) and there are things you can do with pixels on your website, that directly relate to what advertisements a person will see on facebook. There is a lot to it, but just about every service industry benefits greatly from this, even moreso when its tied into other forms of digital marketing, Website, SEO, Etc.

You can get a potential client only if you create an interesting post and it still depends on what they need, but yes social media drive sale.
