Think we got screwed - Need Trane Experts - Pics included

    Hello -

Live in Dallas, TX and end of June our downstairs A/C broke. Called 'SOME COMPANY' and they quoted us $XXXX for a quote "Complete XR14 System (1 gas furnace, 1 condenser, 1 evaporator coil). That is exactly what he wrote on the work order that we have.

1 hour after install we had water leaking from ceiling from below A/C unit in attic. He didn't install drain right, there were like 5-90 degree angles. I luckily caught it and he came back then and fixed it.

That was just the beginning. We have had trouble keeping downstairs cold. Called him and basically said he was gonna charge us for duct work. We said hell no.

Called another HVAC guy and he made it apparent we got screwed.

    1. We have 1 XR compressor. an XB furnace (builder grade, not XR), and we think an Ameristar Coil.
    2. The guy says we are only getting a 10 degree difference, and the outlet and return are very close.

Did we get "a complete XR14 system"???

Also, what is this coil? Is it ameristar or trane?

    We are disputing with AMEX.

I don't think disputing with a credit card is legal action really.

Really am more interested in the makeup of our system.

Remember... we don't need your contractors name or bill or price. It was removed from your post.
