    In-progress installations allowed?

I'm helping to install 6 new furnaces on our new school, and have some WIP pics I figured I would upload. This project is a Saturdays-only volunteer-labor project, so the progress is very slow. But today I got 3 of the indoor coils brazed in, hopefully finish the rest next week. Progress might also be hampered by the injury I got today 9 stitches across the back of my thumb from an accident with a hole saw and a high-torque drill.

Unfortunately I wasn't involved in the equipment selection/purchase or sheetmetal work, so the transitions between the furnaces and coils are not ideal. However, it is an approved way to connect them as per the manual. To do: electric, venting, gas lines, horizontal conversions, propane conversions, filter change switches, EIM install, thermostats, and smoke detectors. These are installed on a mezzanine with a 6 foot ceiling, so it's really nice to work on. 5 Saturdays left... might also start doing Fridays.

Wavy spaghetti... had to go around the light, and the unit position changed after the lineset was installed because the sheet metal guys remembered to add flex collars.

You'd be surprised what's allowed here we've seen knee surgeries and other things.

Well, it was a hole saw accident where the pilot bit wasn't set out far enough, and the wood we were drilling into wasn't held down too well. The drill caught and jumped out and bit me, 9 stitches.

Sure did, and also learned to always keep both hands on the drill, in this case I was holding the board while someone else was drilling, which was a big mistake.

Dont feel too bad. I always forget to look behind what im drilling. I once severed an electrical line for a living room. The second time I cut open a live 1/2" water line

Thought I was going to be all fancy and bend everything - worked fine for the 7/8 (maybe a little wrinkly on the 90s), but one of the 1-1/8 bends looks like this

I guess I'll have to just pressure test it and hope for the best.

@Bbeerme, I am having a humidity issue in my walk-in, seeing if I could pick your mind, since we are both in the bay area.

Did he at least offer to do the other hand right away so you'd have a matched set?
Hope it heals up quick for you.

It's not what you're capable of doing that defines you, it's what you do on a daily basis.

So just heat it up and drip some braze rod on it? I was going to pressure test at 450 psi and hope for the best. Maybe I could drop on some staybright #8 since it's up in the attic and I'm trying to avoid too much hot work up there.

This damn bender has some design flaws I think.

Sure. You can try. Be advised though, you'll be in competition with all of the beer I've been drinking through the years.

Unless you've got something like flowers, the usual complaint is too humid. If that is your case, longer run times is the simple fix. If it is some sort of critical application, then adding heat strips is the usual solution.

Looks like you'll be able to keep your thumb nail.
