The Lennox merit series will fit in the alcove...a 3 ton is 24 1/4 x 24 1/4...which will fit fine. The 4 ton there is oversized for the envelope and for the ductwork.
Problem is, Im not a lennox dealer. May have to ask HeyBob if he can call in an order for me.

The Lennox 13ACXN is roughly 29Hx24Wx24D, 3 ton 13J04. If he cant, I probably can. Im on a cash account so you can pay on pickup at your local PartsPlus store.

Parts plus will sell any hvac contractor merit line equipment, so he should be good to just go get it at the supply house. Its just the Elite and Signature series that are Lennox dealers only.

Armstrong is made by Lennox. Some of their equipment is the same as Lennox.

That is kinda surprising, Local partsplus here lets anyone with an EPA buy them, just not the high end equipment. Could always use Armstrong or concord, some of them use the same designs.

    right into the suction air.

Next time your on your knees on a res style cond unit, slowly raise your hand straight up the side of the CU and keep raising your hand higher than the top of the CU. At what height above the CU do you feel discharge air hitting your hand. 2-3-5"??. I have hundreds of "collars" out there. Square, rectangle, oval, octagon, round, most are round. On multi fan condensers I have 2-3-4 chimneys 4' high, some have 45* elbows on top. Hundreds of them. Oh a word of advice, do not leave the sheetmetal edges "raw", have them "hemed" or file them.

I have make more than a few collars out of wood. I've had customers that have their carpenters make them out of "matching" the house exterior stuff or deck matching material. Cedar,Oak,Redwood, etc

You can test this out by using crappy/junky cardboard, have your hi side gauge on before/after making and using the chimney and watch that head press drop, watch that low side press drop, watch that "flood" that happens at the condensate drain. And last but not least, watch the amp draw drop also.

Next time your working on one of those "space restricted" CU put several digital thermometers at diff heights up/down the sides of the CU close to the bldg and see all of the diff air temps going into the CU.
That’s a very interesting idea, can’t imagine it being very pretty in most applications. Do you ever have any issues with the static created by them?

Concord is manufactured by Allied Air (Lenox, Armstrong, Ducane) and is the same size 4AC13*36P W24.25 D24.25 H29 DB74

You'll be stuck with 13 seer equipment

Most distributors don't require a franchise on Ducane and Concord

I'm not a dealer but have an account at partsplus and they just won't just sell me the merit line they were pushing me on them when I opened the account.

Ive noticed that every store is a little different. They shouldnt be pushing the Signature or Elite lines but I see no problem with Merit or Aire-Flo. They all require an account here for any kind of sale.
