    If it were me... I would list that as a needed repair.... and say the company will not be responsible for issues associated with leaks in that area.

    This is what you do when you are out in the middle of nowhere and you need to get it going. I wonder what the branch is feeding and if the short section of I assume 3/8" copper is feeding enough gas to the appliance.

    That is a pre-made fitting available from most hvac distributors...my old boss referred to it as a us-4 coupling.
