Absolutely. My best Derby day was (I think) 3 years ago when I got #1 & #2. Like the times I'd wish I'd bet more. I still won like $60. It wasn't at Churchill Downs though. The track here set up live coverage, Luleps, music.
It's hard to find coverage on the horses these days. Like past performance. Although many horses in this race this year are not all that race experienced.
    Hope for a dry track.

    Never had a mint julep.

I feel bad for the horses, and the jockeys.
Went to the Radnor Hunt last year, taking pictures of the steeplechase race with my good camera. At the jump, in drive mode (15 frames per second) I get about 45 frames of the jockey going over the horse. They both go down, the horse behind them steps on the jockeys head.
Jockey is done (3 mos in hospital), horse is done.
    Pretty sad.
    Uh...Google it yourself!

I was half expecting to see injured horses wearing some kind of therapeutic sandals.

The other half of me thought about videos of horses flip-flopping on the track

The horses are like a fighter. They actually love to race like a fighter loves to fight. Some may get hurt but it's not common. The horses know where they are and the job. They love to beat the others and they know when they win.
Jockeys the same. There is nothing else they would rather do. The danger is just icing on the cake. Some here do dangerous things on off time just for fun.
