    Motor Age Help

I need to find the age of several GE motors. I haven't been able to find a breakdown for model / serial numbers on the nameplates of GE motors. Does anyone have information about the date codes used on the nameplates of GE motors? (Example: Model: 5K43KG2802H / Serial: ERL//)

Baldor Motors? (The date code info on their website seems to not be used as part of their serial numbers anymore)

The equipment the motor is installed on, not the motor numbers

Well the motor # is going to be specific to the MFG of the equipment it is installed on

Another unit (air handler) has a newer GE motor: Model: 5KS254ATE205AE2 / Serial: 115352014
This I am assuming is from 2011, but I was hoping to be correct and not guess.

The units with the Model: 5K43KG2802H / Serial: ERL// motors can all be assumed as original motors which would put them at 40 years old (original to the building). Anyone know if or when GE motors switched to a date code naming in the serial number (does ERL stand for 1978)?

Does October 1971 sound about right for the original motors?

Current date codes are in model numbers and repeat on 42 year intervals.

1971 sounds a little early. One of the units does have a nameplate: Champion Blower Model: 122-BBE VENT PAK / Serial: L-79214-12 E-9. This leads me to believe most of the original equipment is from 1979.
