Can you post any verifiable documented proof of this happening one time? How about three more times? Amazon just sells stuff.

    Sooty,
Now you know why Trump wants to renegotiate NAFTA. We don't have such safe guards on steel and aluminum production. If you can protect your farmers we can protect our steel. Sounds fair to me. Given that why is Canada so pissed off?

The Canadian dairy industry has been supply managed since the 1960ies and was excluded under NAFTA unlike the steel and aluminum industries and U.S steel isn't under threat Canadian workers don't make poverty wages. This tariff is punitive just like the ones slapped on softwood lumber (a battle Canada has fought and won repeatedly already) and the 292% tariff slapped on Bombardier which the U.S. International Trade Commission shot down. Canada is pissed because Canada does play fair and while Trump talks a good game he isn't actually picking any fights with China and he sure as hell isn't in any hurry to slap sanctions on Russia.

Steel and aluminum need to be excluded in NAFTA. How is it fair trade when one country has exclusions to protect anything. The tariffs will be slapped on China and if Canada and Mexico want to play fair they will be exempt from the tariffs. They need to negotiate in good faith. If either country selects industries to protect so should the United States. How can anyone complain about that? You manage what you want and we will manage what we want.
Do you really believe the U.S. Steel industry isn't under threat?

You guys do have NAFTA exclusions and protected industries such as sugar. You can't manage what you want and we manage what we want when there is a trade deal in place for one it is dishonest and two it totally screws up production on both sides of the border.

Exactly...which is why using a legal loophole to add tariffs to tariff exempt products is dishonest. You guys say any sugar sold in the U.S is subject to tariffs and we say any milk sold in Canada is subject to tariffs and those weren't included in the free trade agreement. Steel and aluminum were in the agreement as not having tariffs and Trump is using the excuse of it being in the interest of national security to put a tariff on it. I think you guys are totally missing the point.

Tariffs are no good...the end consumer pays it in the end...just think of it as another big tax.

Yeah, .... I look at what America has done in my Lifetime,& is doing now, under the Leadership of Republicans & Democrats, & frankly, .... I can not shake off the Uncanny resemblance to the 1920s/30s, as well as Ancient Rome.

We "Act like & Proclaim" that We are the "Last Super-power", .... But in a very "Orwellian" manner, ... The American People Refuse to accept that they have been Sold out, Betrayed, ... That the Grand Illusion that they have been presented with is nothing more than a "Perfumed, Pus covered hog" that is wearing Fine Clothes & Jewels.

Your "House is on Fire", & the Sheeple instead of banding together, putting the Fire Out, & Saving the Building, argue about their "Flavorite" Political Parties Virtue, as they choke & gag on the smoke coming from the Burning Building.
    -------------------

"If America cannot compete against athletes of other nations, it will ban them.

If America cannot be trade competitive, it will impose sanctions on its competitors.

If America sees that a nation does not fully kowtow to its agenda, it will classify it as a terrorist state and tries to push it to its knees by putting a ban on international trade with it.

When the economy fails and America cannot generate wealth, REAL WEALTH, to stay on the top, it will print money.

And when American citizens turn into whistle-blowers, they are branded as traitors. So much for free speech. And where did Edward Snowden seek political asylum? In Russia out of all places. Will we in the future see a reversal of the former exodus of citizens of the USSR to the USA? We cannot say this can be ruled out."

"When it sees Russian state-of-the-art weaponry and electronic jamming devices in action, when it sees China building a huge fleet with two aircraft carriers and counting, when it sees Russia and China way ahead, each developing their own hypersonic, even orbital, fighter jets, which America itself does not yet have, when it realizes that it has to use Russian-made rockets to propel its satellites into space, when America knows that for all practical purposes, America is no longer the world’s strongest economy, then America feels that it has been pushed to the absolute limit that only further sanctions and war can remedy."

"To put it bluntly, after the petro-dollar loses its world dominance, and this doesn’t seem very far away, a time will come when it will become virtually impossible to keep propping up the American economy with quantitative easing (aka printing money). And as America loses its economic stature, its only remaining prowess and might will be in its nuclear arsenal. The question is this. If America is imposing sanctions and bans right left and centre right now, and for no good reason at all, will a much more desperate America use its nuclear power to restore its dominion? Lately, America has been considering diluting its restrictions on the use of nuclear power by developing “more usable” nukes.

After all, using conventional weapons in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan etc didn’t win wars for America, despite the technical superiority they had over the conventional weapons of the adversaries."

Naw, they get their power by writing checks to the politicians.

That's more cynical but probably just as true. The tariff helps out the sugar companies but isn't such good news for the candy factory workers it could happen that manufacturers relocate their manufacturing to Mexico and buy foreign steel and use Mexican workers for the finished products.
