I’ve used zoom lock quite a bit. I love their products and it is very efficient for low skilled labor. Only thing I wouldn’t recommend using it on soft copper.

well I posted over a year ago when i bought thh zoom lock to replace a leaking Zoomlock fitting. If they don't leak, then why was i there. Zoom lock tool hasn't been out of the truck since I posted a year ago. And for the record, I've been a UA Service Fitter for 36 years, started in large supermarkets, now chillers and boilers on the industrial side, hence the screen name. Building trade journeyman fitter or big time journeyman depending on who you talk too.

I don't think zoom lock or other brands are ready yet, I think gen 2 of the product might be when I'll buy into the hype. in the mean time I'll purge at 0.5 psig when brazing and I will sleep at night
I can see the attraction with the hot work permits and fire watch requirements though.

fyi to the ego maniac way above I had robinair digital gauges in the early 90s I also had digital meters in the early 80s I have both in use on the truck.

I also have been in the trade since before many on this forum were born. Ive seen the early 'new products" I've learned to be wary
I think the new press fittings for refrigeration/a/c have their place but they arn't perfected yet and there will be issues.

oh look Ive been a member since 2002 damm Im old
I couldn't afford Robinair digital gauges in the late 80's, I had to borrow beg and skimp to afford the Robinair standard set of gauges, only the gods of a/c had those digital gauges back then... LOL

Never used the stuff,.... just going by the 2020 literature, says can be used on soft drawn annealed tubing. Does say Zoomlock”Max” thou page 6, also page 23 #19

This one is dated 2018 just says Zoomlock, can be used for soft annealed tubing and mineral oil, page 5. The Zoomlock Max does not mention they are compatible with mineral oil thou.

Got documents to back that up.

    The manufacture would disagree!

Sorry, looks like the Zoomlock MAX are compatible with Mineral Oil, I mentioned it was not compatible in post #111 as it abbreviated as MO, did not pick up on that initially, opps, as far as I know MO stands for mineral oil.

So, Zoomlock changes to Zoomlock Max. Needs different jaws and more powerful ram. Distributor is offering to change out our inventory of fittings and jaws using the Rothenberger jaws and sell us our choice of the same brand of ram but 19kN or the Rothenberger 32kN ram at their cost. We had already thought about getting a 32kN tool for use with Viega's fuel gas fittings and were looking at the Milwaukee or Ridgid brands. No one seems to know what rams will work with the Rothenberger Zoomlock max jaws other than the two brands they're offering. Anyone know if the Ridgid jaws would work in the Rothenberger ram or if the Rothenberger jaws would work in the Milwaukee?

We have a dozen rigid tools and rls jaws. We aren't changing. Rls designed it and sporlan ripped it off. To me it sounds like sporlan got greedy and tough luck for them. Just sayin
