I've done similar as a bandaid when the condenser was shot from salt air corrosion, but a temporary solution until there was an open day to change out system (short term rentals)

Absolutely , I I work on a lot of places that are rented by the week. The only open day is Saturday for change outs between one guest leaving in the next one coming in. Wouldn't do it long term but it's a good short-term solution to buy a little time.

But it lasted four years, Beach front property. Changed out with an ICP sea coast heat pump, will have to see how long it lasts.
