For basic field use, ie covers 485 and rugged enough to be tossed around, I would look at a basic picoscope or fluke scopemeter. There are a wad of scopemeter knocks offs as well, but used picos & flukes <50mhz can be had pretty reasonable on ebay. If I didn't want to spend much and only used it for field use, that's least where I would start to look.

I upgraded to a Picoscope, like the additional features (math and serial analysis functions) over the Parrallex I had.

If someone is looking I have a benchtop Rigol DS1054Z that I'm waiting on its replacement to show up. Was planing on putting it up up on ebay, would be happy to take $150 + shipping.

Firmware is tweaked, so everything is unlocked. Protocol decoders and bandwidth. Its in mint condition, not sure if I have the original probes. Will supply 4 probes with it. 4 channel, digital, 100mhz + protocol decode, hard to beat for the money.

Not idea for every day field use. In the rare cases I need one onsite its easy enough to bring it in and over qualified. Use it at home mainly and since I have it, seems silly to have a field specific unit. Should have its replacement any day.

Have a original Parrallex unit as well somewhere. If someone wants that, for shipping only I would part with it. Just note that the probe setup was crap and I don't think I have any of them. One could make their own without alot of hassle since they are barrel jacks off memory.

Sounds like the Rigol is gone.
