Leaky line sets ?
I was in the suppliers last week and one of the countermen told me that we in the trade were going to get very busy do to pinholes starting to appear in all line sets. Told me it was happening al over.
I know I live a very sheltered life so perhaps I missed something.
Has anyone else heard anything about this? Me thinks BS.

Tons of holes in evap coils, when pressurized and under water it looks like a fish tank stone. But haven't seen any problems in line sets, that were not from rubbing thru, or a bad weld joint. Ever, come to think of it.

We had some bad copper about 5 years ago. The ends had plastic plugs instead of rubber plugs. Also no pressure in the pipe. It was labled for Refrig but seemed like plumbing pipe. Distributer assured us it was clean etc. Did one job with it, 50' of 7/8 and had 2 pin holes in the walls. Sent the rest back and demanded the original type. That was at the time of sky high scrap prices maybe 5 years ago? Found out later others had issues with it too.

Might be what he was talking about.

We keep sending our raw materials to to foreign countries that hate us, and hope to get quality parts back.....stupid isn't it.

It could be that they sold seamed copper instead of drawn copper.
