    Courtship/Betrothal

I forget the post, but this is a response to PHM.

I will attempt to describe the practice. My previous statement was that in our culture, many practice courtship, the practice has been engaged in and encouraged for over 2 decades. And of those who have "gone through the process" so to speak, there have been no divorces and the families (many of them) have carried on in the beliefs of their forefathers.

This is attributed in part to "marrying good" and not having irreconcilable differences that so many have going into marriage, thus dooming them to failure.

Courtship in this way, essentially precludes dating. In other words, there is no dating as our society has been accustomed to doing. Dating is looked upon as practice divorce.

Parental guidance, father approval. The father is the gateway to approval and without his approval, the relationship does not begin. Obviously we do not encourage daughters to work outside the home, but to marry, bear children, and guide the house. That last part is a direct quote from the word of God.

If you don't like the quote from the Bible, just wait until one of these "devoutly christian" posters comes along, they will instruct you as to why the word of God is to be laid aside in this circumstance also.

Anyway, it's kind of like anything, there is not a magical one thing you do to avoid family destruction, but a lifestyle based on serious reading of the bible.

So much more to it, but I will digress.

I think serious reading of the Bible can help a family that is on its way to destruction. In my family, we are not religious, and yet we have a strong bond and harmony within our 4 walls. I do not attribute this to the Bible, but rather conservative values and tradition that are common sense and universal by nature.

Your statements regarding what the Bible says might be more credible if you post scripture to support them. Perhaps the actual text in quote tags.

Any long time convert like yourself would surely know the verse...or could it be you are entirely unacquainted with the word?

This is what I dislike about all the false baptists. At least the Pharisees knew the references.

You hypocrites have never even read.

I didn't say it was for me or anyone else. It's always a good idea to support your claims.

So perhaps you could share these verses with the ARP members. And perhaps you could do so without insults and name calling?

Seriously if you never heard of that verse, something is lacking in your profession.

Google would work also, since it is a direct quote. However, are you telling me you don't know the book of 1st Timothy? It is 5 short chapters

You really never heard of the idea that the woman's place is in the home as a Mother, and that this is actually Gods will?

Our country lived by this precept for centuries.

So you can't support your claim then?

    You are too funny.

"I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, and guide the house"

IS the scripture. Yet you won't accept it. You do realize the numbers and names were not in the originals?

You can't love God, and hate his word. David was ashamed and repented when confronted by Nathan for "despising the word of God".

Now was that so hard? 1 Timothy 5:14 is your verse. But as usual, you see only the parts you want to see.

Where does that say that women will be betrothed, forbidden to work outside the home, or to be the husband's slave?

My question would be how would you put your women under the authority of another man, and make her bare the burden of both roles?

A lot of greed in the modern concept of getting two incomes. Covetousness is the root of all evil
