Got the okay to purchase a new pump. Is JB still what most use. I was looking at the YJ super vac. We do mostly residential.

I use a JB 10 cfm. Keep the oil clean and it'll work great for a long time.

Wanna say myself and other guys have been using a a Robinair pump. Silver body red plastic handles. I've had mine for about 8yrs other guys always break the plastic handles. Boss has a Jb, he always gets the good stuffs(even if he doesn't use it) Only complaint is filling it and maybe same across other brands and apprentices.

Edit: Had to cut the end off power cord, from wrapping it around pump. But, that could happen to any brand.

I've been using a YJ 6 cfm for about 12 years. I know there are better pumps out there but it stills pulls well.

Thanks guys I will probably pick up a JB platinum. My old pump had the ballast and I used it. I don't think the other guys at the shop know the ballast exists. It's mostly turn on the pump and walk away.

Shop gave me 2 YJ 8 CFM pumps. No complaints.
Have a JB 6 at home that works well and seems quieter and lighter then the YJs

    JB dv-200n...

Only vacuum pump I have ever had in my 17 years in the trade. I bought it in '98 and it's still running today. Best $245 I ever spent.

The biggest difference maker for me was adding a YJ tree to the 3/8 outlet of my pump along with 2 1/2" hoses and vcr's. I've been more than pleased with the results with just a 6 cfm pump. Granted I don't work on anything larger than a 25T but it made a huge improvement.
