Mitsubishi PVA unitary air handler w/ hyper heat pump!

Just got finished with this install! It's a Mitsubishi PVA-42 (3.5 ton) air handler with a PUZ-42 (3.5 ton) fully variable hyper heat pump with a Honeywell 9000 thermostat. This is an awesome unit!

I had to use a PAC-US444 thermostat interface to connect to the HW 9000. The compressor will modulate w/ a Y1 call and will run at full capacity with a Y2 call.

The air handler is solid as a rock. I'm very impressed. I didn't install back-up heat due to the efficiency of the heat pump at low temps (and our mild winters).

The customer has a creek next to her house, the creek was louder than the outdoor unit running at full capacity!

Balloyd, it's 5/8 and 3/8 copper with flared connections.

    Sweet,
I just have taken the Mitsubishi service class a few months ago. You should have no problems
with heat side of that install. I was impressed with the support team here in SE Michigan for Mitsubishi products.
Keep us updated if you run into any issues. Thanks for the pictures!

Hvacr, we get an inch or two (maybe) of snow a year. Nothing to worry about.

Don't have to have multiple indoor units with that setup? I was thinking I was told that.

    Looks great.

The M series (MVZ) has to have multiple (more than 1) indoor units. The P series (PVA) can have just a one zone setup.

Have you used that thermostat interface before? I never even knew that existed. Looks like it came out last year.

I would definitely seismic brace that thing on the top side. Not for earthquakes but just in case some idiot or animal decides to try and run into it. Just makes for a better install I would say.

I was going to ask the same thing. What's your static and airflow? All looks good. Even with new installs, I never get that much room to work with. They always cram me into a small closet or tiny attic.

I went back the next morning (Friday) and completed the full commissioning.

Total static was 0.62. It was a little higher than I wanted but this was a retrofit and I didn't redo the entire duct system.

Did you secure that thing i hope!!!That pad look a lil on the small side? otherwise, nice and clean, I love installs with room like that, i'm usually cramped in a attic, or unit is in the middle of a 3 series setup, with 4 inches between each unit, LOL, my guys cry, and big daddy shows up to do a mans job HAHAHA

    Brent,

I am looking into getting this installed in my home in East Central Illinois. I am wondering how good this unit is for dehumidification. Does it track humidity and accordingly slow the blower down?

    Thanks.
