a 3/8" pipe bent 180 * needs what 4"
a 1/2" needs 6+"
No way of putting a u-bend behind the unit without opening the wall

IF,your talking 90 of the HEAD piping,Just bend IT.
With 1 hand AT the 90 from the ecoil and the other hand at the Flair End and,
Just sweep IT 'around.
No 'Big Deal bud, just Do It.
Daumn....
No matter how long you have been doing this,
Go back and reread the Basic's.You WILL Learn something.
Why is it called,an Act of GOD when IT has Nothing to do with Him?
Will of the Devil would be more appropriate IMO.Just Saying.

I've done this before. If its less that 1 ton and uses the smaller 3/8 and 1/4 lines than you can carefully bend it without a problem. You might have more problems with the drain though. Just make sure to pure some water into the catch pan and make sure it all drains out.

Took covering off the piping found the factory put a spring bender on the 3/8" line none on the 1/4". Bent the lines straight down then to the left. The line don't have a perfect 90 but it will work without a kink.
