Spot on tcy612. I have new chilled water sensors ready to go in, but waiting for TU software, if I even get it. Trane came in and "upgraded" to adaptiview from the perfectly fine 530 controller, even though we have the service contract.

I understand that ALL the major players have found ways to make it difficult for their competition to service their equipment. This I believe takes it to another level...

I would understand if the software were required to change sensitive, machine altering parameters and configuration data ONLY. Two different versions?contractor version vs. factory version of the software? fine, I get it... But to be denied the PURCHASE of software needed to "bind" (change) a transducer or sensor!?

I think it's crumby that Trane feels they have to stoop to this level and put the customer in a position to be their only service provider.

There have been people who've disagreed with me on this and that's fine... I'm NOT asking for it to be free, I'm just asking for an opportunity to BUY the software!

I recommend to my customers who have this Trane equipment on their site to tell Trane "If you want sell me another chiller in this building you WILL PROVIDE me the software!"

I've used it and it's certainly not rocket science.

I'm late to the party here.....but I want to know how useful is the Tech view software to use a service provider? can you troubleshoot, change parameters test etc with it? I also work in an area with big trane factory presence and it seems some of customers would rather call and deal with trane tech coming in with lap top with all the latest greatest patches, software downloads etc. its makes the service contractors look bad like we don't know our stuff, but how can you compete against that? jmo

It's sad that we have become so accustomed to bad service that we're shocked when we get good service.

Techview is a must if you have any machines with ch530 panel.
It's a free download. Only need to buy South pole magnet.

. The techview version available to contractors is not the same that Trane employees use and what we can get is good for just about sensors binding. Locally Trane has single handed managed to alienate contractors and customers equally and their market share has gone down, Daikin in the other hand is stepping in and filling the void, they are selling chillers like crazy.
