    Kold Draft Icer

I am doing a job that spec'ed a Kold Draft 1000lb a day Ice Maker. Its been 20 years or more since I had the pleasure of working on a Kold Draft. They kinda went out of production way back when. Anyone use them, work on them?

I've got 3 out here. (In an old KG Brown dispenser) Still chugging along.

See if you can spec the Hoshizaki IM500***. I have one of those and much nicer machine.

We sold one, its been a very reliable machine. No problems so far except for a stuck bin control.

I've never been able to get someone at Kold Draft tech support while one a job.

If they call back it's next day or two if at all.

Kold Draft's are a marvel of modern engineering. Take the front cover off and let the show begin.

Kold-Draft has a new undercounter self contained that uses the same technology but has the evaporator slanted with a water plate that travels down 2", staying parallel with the evap. No swing so less space needed. Still has the same Big Square Cube.

They keep making little tweaks with parts but basicaly the same.
Lately the been through so many water pump styles I can't keep in straight and the latest water level sensors are floats. Looks like two marshmallows floating in a test tube lol

Yes on the pumps...theyve changed them so many times. Now theyre this tiny tiny DC motor that has an inverter board that you mount and wire up with it

i was sent on a call that they had numerous problems with, a couple different companies changing boards, floats, many parts, even a compressor, but it all ended up being install related, so i had the guys cell # so i could send pics and such, that could be why i never had a problem getting through. But i don't use that number for general question calls, and still have not had much problem getting through, i used to have that problem with manitowoc, by the time they would get back to me i would be three service calls down the road, they seem to be getting better too...
