Firearms Training Tax Credit Makes Good Cents

Want to encourage residents to take firearms training classes? Give ’em a break!

An Arizona House committee voted in favor of a measure which would give a $80 tax credit for those who complete a concealed carry class. The sponsor of the bill, House Majority Leader Steve Montenegro says the credit “will encourage education for Arizonans who already legally carry a concealed weapon with no training.”

Currently, people can carry a concealed gun without completing any classes, however without training and a concealed carry permit, they do not have reciprocity with other states. About 250,000 residents currently have permits.

The proposed legislation would do more than just allow residents to apply for a concealed carry permit, it would also encourage them to complete the course, which includes a firearms qualification, specific law and legal issues in the state, including potential liabilities, and concealed carry best practices.

“When you want to make sure you don’t use a firearm, how you let people know you have one or not…these are lessons in firearms safety that are appropriate for the next generation of firearm users,” he said. “You can’t really put a price on safety.”

However, opponents of the bill have done just that. Democrats claim the state would be on the hook for or up to $240 million.

Rep. Anthony Kern, R-Glendale points out the legislation, aimed at training residents who already carry guns, should make Democrats happy. “The left is always saying we need to regulate Second Amendment, whoever wants to buy a gun needs to apply for a permit and needs to go into some kind of database.”

The measure cleared the House Ways and Means Committee on a 5-4 vote Monday night.

I don't know how this happened: Panera is a gun free zone. If the facts show this was a BLM/ Black Panther related incident, I think Beyonce' should be brought up on charges. Having a CCW holder present in the restaurant may not have prevented this assassination but it certainly could have prevented the second cop from being shot.

THX Hearth... I was not aware Panera was a "crime invitation zone"...
GA would starve before eating there...

And it would be a cold day in h*ll before GA would invest in their stock...

Yet someone on ARP is bragging about owning Panera...

If it's possible to have an upside to that story, then knowing the perp is dead would be it.

Yeah... good to know the perp is no longer a threat (or a tax expense)...

However the perp was NOT worth two of our finest.

In another thread... there is a NYC dude that is bragging about making $$$ investing in Panera...
Kinda had to remind him of morals... so far he is not listening...

    This doesn't sound good. Florida

Several law enforcement agencies in Hillsborough County are teaming up with Crime Stoppers Tampa Bay for a new program aimed at curbing a recent spike in gun violence – See it, Say it, Stop it.

The gun bounty program is not a gun buyback. Instead, if you know someone who has an illegal gun, you can pass that info along to law enforcement anonymously for a $1,000 cash reward. The goal is to get illegal weapons, and the people who may use them, off the street before those crimes occur.

"It can't just be a law enforcement issue. It's got to be parents that are willing to talk. It's got to be students and peers who may know young people who have guns because they may be the next victim," says Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn.

Unlike other programs which rely on private donations, the gun bounty program will be funded with a $40 fee paid to Crime Stoppers by people who elect to participate in the felony pretrial intervention program. In 2015, that would've been the equivalent of about $60,000.

Concealed Carrier Saves Cop Swarmed By “Unarmed” Youths

An Upper Darby police officer who waded into a crowd of high school students to break up a fight was mobbed by the crowd, and only the actions of a concealed carrier kept this from going very, very bad.

An officer who broke up a fight between two teen boys that had attracted a large crowd at that location was holding one of the combatants at bay when the teen’s opponent attacked the officer, Chitwood said.

“As he breaks up the fight, he takes one kid and then the other jumps [on] him. Now he’s fighting two of them and he’s calling for an assist officer at the same time,” Chitwood said. “There’s a crowd of 40 or 50 kids watching the fight, and they all move in towards the officer.”

That’s when the good Samaritan, who lives on the block, came out of his house with a gun in his hand and told the teens to get away from the cop, Chitwood said.

“He had the gun in his hand, but he didn’t point it at the kids, he just told them to back off,” Chitwood said. “If this guy didn’t come out and come to the aid of the officer, this officer would have had significant problems.”

The 35-year-old gun owner, who has a concealed-carry permit, kept the group of teens at bay until responding officers arrived, Chitwood said.

Not only did the officer who tried to break up the fight suffer significant hand injuries, Chitwood said, but an officer who responded to the request for backup also suffered a major injury to a leg when he was kicked by one of the teens in the fight.

Sadly, young thugs around the nation, egged on by the behavior of the Obama White House, the Justice Department, and Black Lives Matter, feel that they can get away with attacking the police, and have the expectation that they will be able to get away with it.

These mobs expect police officers intimidated by the “Ferguson Effect” to hold their fire and take a beating. They think they can get away with acting like savages.

Concealed carriers and lawful gun owners are a wild card in the mix. Criminals don’t know how a concealed carrier will respond, and they are intimidated by the uncertainty of what a citizen may do.

Law-abiding citizens with arms are increasingly stepping up to defend law enforcement officers from criminals.

Sadly, we can probably expect more of this as the Obama Administration continues to attack law enforcement and excuse the actions of criminals.

    http://www.philly.com/philly/news/lo...k_by_kids.html

This was in my township and the High School both my daughters graduated from. The school has been overrun by rough Philly kids who pay for taxi cabs to get to and from school (where does that money come from?). The incident happened a few blocks from school across the street from church friends. Note he didn't have to point the gun at the creeps and they got the message. Also note, if the citizen didn't get involved this cop would have been really hurt or killed and this dopey kid attacked a cop. Stupid? No respect for their own lives much less yours.

If you're carrying and see a cop about to become overwhelmed, step up and make your presence known. I recently encountered an incident at the Homeless Depot. Store security was trying to restrain a guy outside by the fencing and he was uncooperative. I called 911 and flagged the officers in, then stepped back but stood by to cover their backs. A cop looked at me and I explained I was watching his back. He thanked me.

Pretty boring up to the 40 second mark. Then, it starts getting a little bit scary.
Can't tell for sure, but it looks like a weapon of some type around the 2:50 mark.

You just never know anymore where this type of behavior is going to strike.
