50 Years ago, Linus explained the meaning of Christmas...

It's hard to believe how much time has passed since this first aired, and how much more the message is needed today....

It is important to note that Linus is known by his trademark security blanket. In every Peanuts cartoon, he's always holding it: except when he recites Luke to Charlie Brown. He places it on the floor, very symbolically per Charles Schulz. You see, this is THE most important part of Charlie Brown's Christmas-to deliver the Gospel or Good News of Jesus Christ and that in Him, Christ is our security--not some dopey blanket. This is why this section of the cartoon should never be allowed to be edited out by the Progressives. You do not possess the capacity to control your own life or be in charge of it. You can and will fail every time you try. You must give your life over to Christ, trusting in Him completely that he is always with you and never gives you a burden you cannot handle. Yes, he will task you as the Bible tells you in Hebrews and Romans but that is the Father's way of disciplining the son in preparation to be with Him.

All you who do not know Jesus Christ or reject Him, let me ask you one simple question: How is your life working out without Christ? Are you hurting? Frustrated over the lack of success or recognition or promotion? Are you in a failed personal relationship with a spouse? How is your relationship with your children and coworkers? Do you want a supernatural type of peace and contentment you've never experienced before? One that no matter how dark the clouds you are at peace with your Maker? To be constantly appreciative of the blessings and grace He has bestowed on you, not for anything you have done but in spite of all you have done. He loves you no matter what you do. No matter how many times you turn your back on Him, betray Him, mock Him, or ignore Him, Christ is always there by your side and loves you even more so. Turn your life over to Him and discover a peace and contentment that is indescribable. You see, the message of Christ and His sacrifice, once offered for your sins, with the gift of eternal life with God is not the only gift from God. Once you are in Christ, you can have life now and have it more abundantly. You don't have to wait for the death of your earth suite to discover the grace of God but it's yours now if you only accept Christ into your heart and repent of your sins. It remains, the single greatest gift from God to His creation. Nothing you can do will earn being in Christ but surrendering all to Him and putting Him in charge of your life will be transformational. Speak to Him and pray that he open your eyes as he did to Saul in Damascus and showed Saul his new role serving Christ as Paul the Apostle. He has a plan for you, too. Just pray to Him and he will reveal himself to you.

    Merry Christmas all,
    Bob

    Merry Christmas to all.

Where was the part with Linus edited out of the cartoon? It wasn't as far as I can tell.
Editing a school play is not editing a cartoon. It is merely following the law. It is not appropriate for a public school play. Go ahead and do the play in a parochial school, church or regular theatre.

How can you establish a law that bans religion? Home boy you are so far off it is not even funny. That's exactly why we have a constitution, it's freedom OF religion, not freedom from religion.

It is not "a law that bans religion." as you say. The Constitution and Supreme Court rulings stops the State from endorsing any religion over none at all and from endorsing one religion over another.

You are free to worship and pray etc. Why do you need State aided religion?

The Establishment Clause And Public Schools

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment
of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
These opening words of the First Amendment to the Constitution set forth a dual guarantee of religious liberty. Both the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause operate to protect the religious liberty and freedom of conscience of all Americans. Quoting Thomas Jefferson, the Supreme Court has stated that the Establishment Clause was intended to accomplish this end by erecting a "wall of separation between Church and State." Everson v. Board of Educ. of Ewing, 330 U.S. 1, 15-16 (1947).

It is one of the fundamental principles of the Supreme Court's Establishment Clause jurisprudence that the Constitution forbids not only state practices that "aid one religion . . . or prefer one religion over another," but also those practices that "aid all religions" and thus endorse or prefer religion over nonreligion. Everson, 330 U.S. at 15. See Wallace v. Jaffree, 472 U.S. 38, 53 (1985)("[T]he individual freedom of conscience protected by the First Amendment embraces the right to select any religious faith or none at all"); see also County of Allegheny v. ACLU Greater Pittsburgh Chapter, 492 U.S. 573, 589-94, 598-602 (1989); Texas Monthly, Inc. v. Bullock, 489 U.S. 1, 17 (1989); Torcaso v. Watkins, 367 U.S. 488, 495 (1961).

The state has nothing to do with religion, so they have nothing to say about it. All that banter about banning prayer in schools, etc....mere constitutional usurpation by liberals such as yourself.

This is probably the greatest testimony I have read in a long time, maybe ever.

How is it a testimony? I see some interesting insight to Charlie Brown. Blaming progressives for doing something we have not done. That is edit a cartoon. At least not that I am aware of and I asked for evidence of that. And then some preaching. I thought a testimony was a personal story of one's conversion.

I was unaware that Jesus was going to fix a "lack of success or recognition or promotion." Fix a failed personal relationship with a spouse, children and coworkers etc....... That and salvation? That aint too bad. What if I want to win the lottery? I just want 5 numbers. Why not he was talking about success and promotions.
    Really it's beyond silly.

The very fact that you can not see this individuals personal relationship with his savior is the same reason you can't see how God was intended by the founders to be part of the government. And so you keep "pissin' in others cornflakes" thinking it will make yours taste better. Yet somehow it doesn't. Maybe by trying to piss in others cornflakes you are actually doing it in your own, thus the bad taste in your mouth from religion.

    Just a thought.

If he was only "a guy," then that would be a relevant question.

Wise men sought Him then. YOU have to seek Him now.

You're going to Hell because you have violated God's law(just like the rest of us)

You can be saved through Christ, he offers to pay for your sins and settle out of court.

If that's too easy for you, God also offers a payment plan called Hell. Paying for your own sins sucks.

Is the Religious Right to blame for Christianity's decline?

They argued that, as the Religious Right became increasingly visible and militant, it became associated with Christianity itself. And if being a Christian meant being associated with the likes of Jerry Falwell, many people—especially political moderates and liberals—decided to simply stop identifying as Christians altogether.

    Merry Christmas and a
    Happy New Year
To all the folks at H-talk!

We celebrate the birth of Christ on this day... whether it is the correct day is irrelevant.
Christ came into the world for a purpose... that purpose was to save mankind from their own failures... which the Bible calls sin.
Each of us has a choice... we can admit we are less than perfect, swallow our pride, and accept Christ as our savior... it will change ones life for the better... or...
We can continue on the path of thinking it is all about me.
Christ can take the burden of life off your shoulders and carry it with you... if you choose to let Him.
Each of us has a choice... choose wisely!

Some days I envy people who can face hard times with an absolute certainty of the final outcome. Mostly it is my faith in the fact that none of us has knowledge of what happens when this life ends that gives me the strength to do my best each day.
