Mini-Split Ductless System With Separate Humidity Control

Are there any mini-split ductless systems that allow you to set a desired humidity level (e.g. 40%) in addition to setting the temperature?

We're looking to install a min-split ductless system in our basement to provide air conditioning and humidity control. The problem is, on most days, the temperature doesn't rise enough to turn the AC on, but there's is still an ongoing need for humidity control. We still need cooling capacity for really hot days so a simple dehumidifier wouldn't suffice.

Again, we're looking for a mini-split ductless system brand/model that has separate humidity control feature.

    Thanks for your help!

    Yes

a dehumidifier is generally all that's needed in a basement.

As noted in the post, we're looking for AC as well for days when it gets hot in our basement. Do you know of a mini-split ductless system brand/model that has separate humidity control feature?

Your confusing an A/C with a dehumidifier! An A/C is designed to remove heat, a byproduct is moisture removal. (Computer room systems have the capability to control humidity without lowering temperature not recommend for the homeowners basement.)

Dehumidifiers are designed to remove humidity without changing temperature.

A mini split, or any standard air conditioner, cannot remove humidity if there is no heat load. So it cannot remove moisture without lowering the temperature. Most basements have such low cooling load that a simple dehumidifier, sized for the space, will be all that's needed.
There was a new member that wandered by here not long ago. He had an oversized mini put in his basement and expected it to dehumidify. It actually wound up increasing the humidity because of such short run times related to low load.

Many mini splits have a dehumidify setting. It will over cool the area though.

Without some type of reheat no air conditioner will dehumidify without lowering space temp.

A minisplit and a standalone dehumidifier is your best bet.

That's frustrating. Two machines to accomplish one goal. Also, standalone dehumidifiers tend to be noisy.
