No one wants this business

After owning a very profitable small air conditioning company in a small town for the past 34 years I’m thinking about retiring, but can’t seem find anyone interested in taking over the company. If I close the business I would have to leave town just to keep people from bugging me about fixing their equipment. No one in my family wants to carry on the business and done of employee’s want it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

There must be a company close by. Just offer them your customer list? Of ask a friendly lawyer if he might know of some one? Do you have a trade school near by?

Contact the some of the franchise companies that contact small companies frequently trying to find companies to buy. Contact some of the larger companies around your area. If the price is right somebody will surely be interested.

It may be the price is too high. There's a guy here that is trying to sell his company. He is only selling his customer list which has 2500 customers and phone number. No tangible assets. His asking price is $80,000. He'll never get anywhere near his asking price.

A customer list without contracts for service are not worth much. People will pay for contract customers and assets.

I've had small companies try to sell us their customers. I wouldn't pay for it. I'm gonna get a percentage of them anyway and I've got a strong customer base already. Most of their customer base was, no offense, customers I don't necessarily want anyway.
